Animal of the day – 11/11/2010 – The Dingo

Dingo

The animal of the day is the Dingo. (Did you know: Scientists predict the dingo might be extinct within 20 years! A big reason is because dingoes can cross-breed successfully with domesticated dogs. The results of this coupling create mixes that are larger than pure dingo’s and can out-compete them.

Also, contrary to popular belief, dingo’s are not really native to Australia. They got to Australia about 4,000 years ago from the South Asian continent. Indeed, there are still pockets of dingo’s still remaining in some Asian forests.

AND, a dingo probably won’t steal your baby. Though, baby dingo’s are mad cute.
