Animal of the day – 1/31/2011 – The Common Cockle

Common Cockle

The animal of the day is the Common Cockle. (Did you know:  Listen Sally, if you ever picked seashells on the seashore you were probably picking one of these! Cockles are the most abundant mollusk in the world!

In Britain, they’re also eaten alot, and also used as fish bait when de-shelled! Back home in Trinidad, little kids would run down the beach at low tide and pick these from the sand, and then we’d cook em’ up with some curry and rice! Delicious!
