Animal of the day – 2/10/2011 – The Capybara

Capybara

The animal of the day is the Capybara. (Did you know: Holy giant freaking rats Batman! These are the largest living members of the Rodent family! Whenever I see these, I’m reminded of the rodents of unusual size from The Princess Bride.

Yup. Those giant freaking rats!

Capybara’s are great swimmers, and can hold their breath for up to 5 minutes! They frequently evade predators by heading to the water, heck, they can even SLEEP underwater by keeping just their noses above the surface!

And now, [because I know you can’t wait], a capybara on a bogey board.

You’re welcome.

  1. These are way cuter than Rodents of Unusual Size! The fact that someone has one in a swimming pool on a boogie board leads me to believe that I can have one as a pet. Bye bye, Skeletor & Jones – you’re getting traded! (Or fed to large rodent. Oh, the irony…)
