Animal of the day – 4/17/2012 – The Tawny Frogmouth

The Tawny Frogmouth

The animal of the day is the Tawny Frogmouth. (Did you know: This cute Australian bird may look like an owl [and they are closely related], but it’s more closely related to oil-birds and night-jars! In Australia, it has the nickname ‘morepork’. Weird.

It’s a nocturnal feeder, and spends it’s days sitting completely still and blending into trees. How well does it blend?

Pretty damn well.
