Trumpeter Swan

The animal of the day is the Trumpeter Swan. (Did you know: Ok, before we get into awesome swan facts about this Michigan resident bird, Let’s GO BLUE!

Trumpeter Swans are the largest species of waterfowl on the planet! They’re huge!

They’re actually the largest bird in North America! It’d kick a bald eagles ass basically is what I’m saying.

Swans and ugly ducklings!

And here’s where your mind gets blown! Every year adult swans go through a flightless period where they molt all their feathers at once thus making them flightless for a 1-2 month period of time. This typically occurs during the warmest months, namely July and August.
