The animal of the day is the Potto. (Did you know: These small primitive primates are native to Africa. Both males and females have strong scent glands that they use to mark their territory, and the smell of them has been likened to curry!
YUM! I love curry.
Though they primarily eat insects, fruits and tree gum, they have been known to catch small birds and bats!
Potto’s have few predators as they sleep during the day high in the tree tops where most carnivores can’t reach. If threatened, a potto will hide its face and neck-butt its opponent, making use of its unusual vertebrae. Pottos can also deliver a powerful bite. Their saliva contains compounds that cause the wound to become inflamed.
