Animal of the day – 12/01/2010 – The Vampire Squid

Vampire Squid

The animal of the day is the Vampire Squid. (Did you know: Their latin name is Vampyroteuthis infernalis, which means ‘vampire squid from Hell’.

Wondering why? Probably because once they open their maw, it looks like that evil pit that Hans Solo and Luke Skywalker almost fell into in Return of the Jedi.

It's like a Rancor that lives in the sea!

And now for some video!

Cool video. This squid is crazy! Why exactly is it called vampire? Because of its color? I love its latin name! hilarious
