Animal of the day – 6/1/2011 – The Fennec

The Fennec

The animal of the day is the Fennec. (Did you know: This small fox lives in the Sahara, and those huge ears are very useful! Because foxes (and dogs) cannot sweat, the fennec uses those large ears as a way to dissipate heat and keep cool!

They are also very good at hearing! They can hear lil rodents scuffling under the sand from very far away! These foxes are also nimble enough to tackle and kill venomous snakes!

And their pups are mad cute! Something about it reminds me of Dumbo.
