The animal of the day is the Hermit Crab.  (Did you know: They can live up to 15 years! And the just keep on getting bigger, which is why they’re always changing their shells, and looking for the next size up!

With no shell

Unlike most crabs, their abdomen is not made out of the same hard keratin as the rest of it’s body. This soft abdomen is what it uses to hold onto a shell. While switchign shells, hermit crabs are at their most vulnerable.
